Flowdan And Irah Channel Their Love Of Dancehall Into Grimey New Collaboration "Bodybag"

April 24, 2018

Ever since those early days of Pay As U Go, Flowdan's ragga-soaked flow has marked him out as one of the most unique voices in grime, so it makes perfect sense that he link up with UK dancehall favourite Irah for his latest offering on Tru Thoughts. If you're not familiar, you might recognise Irah as the guy roasting the likes of Ken Livingstone and Nigel Farage on RT.

"Bodybag" is exactly as tough and raw as the name suggests, held together by a rowdy grime instrumental from Masro over which the two emcees dominate with gruff bars underneath the deep blue lighting of director Vasilisa Forbes' visuals.

Of the track, Flowdan explained: "It's about our musical influences, our movement and sound, and us as MCs. We worked around the idea of every other person's sound or musical movement ending up in a bodybag after ours was unleashed. Irah brings a whole different tone and energy to what I do. It's kind of like the yin to my yang, at times. But at the same time, we're influenced by the same stuff and the same visuals and the same ideas. He displays them in a totally different way to what I do, so it works well."

"Bodybag" drops officially on April 27 via Tru Thoughts.
