ENNY Forces Us To Face Up To Some Uncomfortable Truths In "Keisha's & Brenda's" Visuals

July 22, 2021

Just a few days on from the release of her stellar debut project, Under Twenty Five, London wordsmith ENNY is back with some visuals for one of the key tracks, "Keisha's & Brenda's". Through her refined articulation and intentional flow, she delivers yet another important message to uplift the women who feel they've been silenced by society.

Directed by KC Locke, the black-and-white video makes a bold statement that forces the viewer to reckon with the uncomfortable truths behind ENNY's words. As she spits facts about the treatment of women when reporting sexual abuse, she finds herself joined by a growing crowd of women to remind us they're never alone in their struggles.

Speaking on the track, ENNY shares: "I wrote Keisha's and Brenda's back in 2018 during a time where many industry professionals were beginning to get exposed for indecent behaviour with women. It wasn't a topic I was unfamiliar with. It was another reminder of the world we live in. And at this point I was annoyed because it felt like there was nothing else I could do but be angry. Angry for the victims, angry that people have to carry the weight of something so traumatic with no absolution.

"The last year or so has started to feel like a turning point. Women are speaking up, people are coming forward and telling their stories more freely, there's a championing behind one another and I wanted the video to reflect that. You don't have to be silenced. Speaking your truth is sometimes the first step. Taking back ownership of your voice. Taking off the tape."

As ENNY continues to make the world her stage and push her strong messages to the forefront, get into "Keisha's & Brenda's" below.
