South East London Rapper ENNY Has Some Bad News About Your Love Life: "He's Not Into You"

May 07, 2020

Arriving with one of the most polished and well-realised debuts we've seen in a while, emerging rapper ENNY is here to give you misguided fools some much-needed advice: "He's Not Into You".

It can be a bitter pill to swallow, realising the person you've been chasing or even dating doesn't care about you, but fortunately the South East Londoner's sweetened it with some cheeky rhymes, plenty of quotables and an infectious instrumental from production outfit MixtapeSeoul.

It should come as no surprise that ENNY's a student of greats like Lauryn Hill, Nas and J.Cole; her quick-witted lyrics and flair for bold imagery seem to come naturally to her—and that's something director duo Oli Carr and Frank Higson (aka Do Not Entry) have done well to reflect in the video. An unmistakably London affair, the playful, laid-back visuals call to mind some of the classic '90s hip-hop videos with shots of ENNY narrating doomed love stories with a wry sideways glance.

"He's Not Into You", released via Hackney label Root 73, is a bold opener and the kind of thing we hope to hear more of on the rest of the singles she has slated for this year.
