Elmiene Announces Debut Album, Shares Video For New Single "Reclusive"

January 16, 2026

Elmiene has announced the imminent release of his debut album, Sounds For Someone, on March 27 via Def Jam Recordings. Ahead of the album's release, he's shared the video for new single, "Reclusive".

Produced by Jeff 'Gitty' Gitelman, "Reclusive" centres a nimble piano riff, twinkling melodies and a driving rhythm. Soulful with plenty of funk, the track details a difficult time in his life when a serious illness kept him locked away from the world with nothing but his own thoughts for company.

Speaking on the origins of the track, Elmiene explains: "I'm grateful for a pretty debilitating sickness I had in December 2024, it's the reason this song exists. When writing 'Reclusive', the goal was to make it painfully autobiographical, zooming in on the most mundane moment of my life and seeing if it could carry a song. Turns out it could. Biz Markie was a huge inspiration, he mastered making everyday life feel funny, honest, and memorable, all tied together with a genius hook. I'm trying my best to do the same here."

In addition to Gitelman, the new album promises additional production from Sampha, No I.D, and Raphael Saadiq who also appears as a featured artist alongside Baby Rose.

The announcement arrives in the wake of new that the British-Sudanese singer-songwriter has been nominated for two MOBO Awards (Best Male Act and Best R&B/Soul Act).
