East Man Announces New Album 'Prole Art Threat' With Streema-Assisted "Know Like Dat"

June 01, 2020

Anthoney Hart, the brains behind Imaginary Forces and Basic Rhythm, recently announced that his third album under the East Man moniker, Prole Art Threat, would be arriving on Planet Mu on July 24.

With the announcement came the project's first single "Know Like Dat" with Streema, a drum-focused act of defiance that sounds as if it was recorded live in a dance with sweat dripping from the ceiling.

The album takes its title from a song by Manchester post-punk band The Fall and is "a reflection of working-class creativity and how the establishment marginalise us and (perhaps on a subconscious level) see us as a threat." Thematically, the album also takes aim at the ways authorities divide and conquer the working classes and non-white cultures.

This is his first East Man album since 2018's Red, White & Zero, a lively collection that brought together Saint P, Darkos Strife, Killa P, Irah, Eklipse, Lyrical Strally and Kwam for a release filled with the spirt of pirate radio and soundsystem culture.

Prole Art Threat looks set to continue that thread with returning appearances from Darkos, Eklipse, and Lyrical Strally, alongside the remaining features coming from MicTy, Ny Ny, Brazilian grime MC Fernando Kep and Vision Crew's WhackEye.
