Duppy Summons The Spirit Of Early Grime On "Wooshu"

Duppy Summons The Spirit Of Early Grime On "Wooshu"

September 08, 2021

South London MC/producer Duppy returns more fired up than ever with his sixth release of the year, "Wooshu". Channelling the rawness, detailed execution and playfulness of grime's earlier days, there's a palpable freshness that radiates from each release.

Aside from the lyrical dexterity displayed on "Wooshu", Duppy also flexes his air-tight production abilities, giving us all one more reason to look out for him. Spilling over with with quotable punchlines and wordplay, it's all tied together with the clattering yet carefully placed hi hats and melodic bass sounds.

The accompanying visuals, handled by Squintz, capture Duppy and his crew floating through London, weaving in special effects for added flair. This one will instantly transport grime heads back to the days of Channel U, but it comes from a voice that's fairly new to the game and he still has plenty more to say. Spin the track below and look out for an EP dropping via Grandmixxer's SLSA in the near future.
