Duppy Arrives With Self-Produced Debut EP 'Now You See Me'

March 02, 2022

Thanks to tracks like "Wooshu" and "YoYo", South London MC/producer Duppy has kept us on the edge of our seats in the build-up to his debut project and now he returns to satisfy our appetite with the self-produced Now You See Me EP.

Clocking in at slightly over 20 minutes, there are no dull moments across the seven tracks, holding our attention throughout with his impassioned style. Entirely self-produced Now You See Me is also a consistent display of his skills on the boards, packing the project with futurist electronic layers pulsing to a murky grime rhythm.

Save for mixing and mastering from Squintz, Mez and Cadell bring the only outside contributions, chiming in with some liveliness on "Dim Sum" and "OT Spot", respectively. Then, on the penultimate track "Feel Like This", Duppy tries a different, more contemplative approach as he ponders ways to deal with his emotions over swirling effects and a jumpy drum pattern.

Judging by a recent tweet from Grandmixxer, 2022 looks set to be a big year for Duppy. While we wait to see what that brings, tune into Now You See Me below.
