Deep Cuts: Klashnekoff

UK hip-hop is in the best health it has ever been. And while there's no denying what the likes of Giggs, 67 and Dave are doing to spread our rap sound across the globe, the name Klashnekoff isn't quite as well known to the younger fan. Even if you are familiar with some of his bigger tunes like "Murda", "Zero" and "Black Rose", the East London rapper has six albums and a tonne of singles under his belt—and you really need to get familiar with them.

Beginning in the early 2000s, Klashnekoff (aka Darren Kandler) was a founding member of the Terra Firma Crew before stepping out on his own. At the time, Klashnekoff was heralded as the guy to unite the disparate worlds of grime and UK rap. Right now, those two worlds have a lot of common ground with many artists dabbling in both, but it was nevertheless unthinkable at the time.

His 2005 debut The Sagas Of Klashnekoff and his 2007 classic Lionheart: Tussle With The Beast are undeniably important releases, not just in UK rap, but on an international level. So, for everyone who wants to reminisce and those looking for an education, here are Klashnekoff's Deep Cuts.
