Dave Is Contributing Music To Sir David Attenborough's Next Documentary

August 03, 2020

Hard as it is to believe, not every surprise 2020 has thrown at us has been bad, the latest example being news that Dave is collaborating with iconic naturalist Sir David Attenborough on a new one-off special documentary that will combine the former's musicianship with the latter's peerless knowledge of wildlife.

Planet Earth: A Celebration, which is said to combine footage from Attenborough's previous Planet Earth and Planet Earth II series along with a new voice over he's recorded, is "designed to lift viewers' spirits during a time of international uncertainty."

Music for the series comes from legendary film composer Hans Zimmer (whose credits include Interstellar, Gladiator and The Dark Knight) and several other composers who will be reworking the original Planet Earth soundtracks and providing original compositions. Dave will be performing on a grand piano with additional music coming from the BBC Concert Orchestra.

"I've always been a fan of powerful natural history documentaries," Dave commented. "This is a programme where nature and music come together, so it was only right that I lent my talent, my time, and my attention to this project. It was a pleasure to work alongside Sir David Attenborough and Hans Zimmer."

Planet Earth: A Celebration is expected to be broadcast on BBC1 at the end of August.
