Daily Mail Uses Photo Of Father Campaigning To Get Knives Off Streets To Suggest The Exact Opposite

Rightly or wrongly we have become used to the right wing media and their racist propaganda, and have seen it many times in recent years, whether it be through the unfair scrutiny placed on the likes of England footballer Raheem Sterling or the "incitement of a race war" at Cambridge University.

Now, most recently, the Daily Mail have used an image of Faron Paul in an article about police officers who blasted the courts and "soft judges" on social media for suspended sentences and letting "knife thugs go free". In reality, Faron is a campaigner against knife crime, offering teenagers clothing vouchers in exchange for handing in their knives. The picture in question features Paul holding the weapons that he had recovered.

Apart from the slanderous defamation of his character, what makes the whole situation worse is that the article in question was written by Rebecca Cambers, who is the Chief Crime Correspondent at the paper. Although the picture has now been removed from the article it is yet another example of poor journalism and an attempt to overshadow the good work being done in local communities to help combat the knife crime epidemic gripping the capital.

In an interview with LadBible, Paul said: "It's dangerous work so I try to protect myself with a stab proof vest and I normally have a friend and my dog with me, too. But you never know. But every time I take a knife off the street I am probably saving a life and stopping someone from going to jail.

"To me that is worth the risk. I'm trying to help build a better future for the next generation and a situation where local communities don't need to live in fear. Everybody wants to know why I do this — I do it because I have kids and I want them to live long and happy lives."
