D Double E Is Hitting Bristol For An Exclusive Live Show With Deliveroo x Wingstop—But There's A Catch
One of grime's most unique voices, D Double E, is hitting Bristol for an exclusive live performance this Thursday (Oct. 1). But there's a bit of a twist with this one: if you're in Bristol and you want to see D Double E at Lakota, you're going to have to summon your best D Double E impression to get in. The East London MC is famous for his ad-libs; so recognisable are his "bud-a-bup-bups" and "bluku blukus" that they alone have been known to score a wheel-up.
The event is being brought to Bristol by Deliveroo for Students and Wingstop, with Lakota set to host a night of DJs, Wingstop food and D Double E live. They've been on site throughout Bristol and on Bristol uni campus judging attempts and handing out tickets. As the last few tickets dwindle, D Double himself will be out and about in the city judging the attempts (no pressure) and handing out the precious few tickets before doors open.
"Bristol, what you saying? I've heard you lot think you can do the ad-libs, so I wanna hear it," says D Double E. "Everyone knows the 'bluku bluku', but let's see who can really shell it. Get yourselves ready, and I'll see you at Lakota."
A Deliveroo spokesperson said: "We're so excited to be teaming up with our pals at Wingstop to bring this one-off night to Bristol, exclusively for our Deliveroo Student members. D Double E's ad-libs are instantly recognisable, so turning them into a challenge felt like a fun way to turn our one-off night into an unforgettable experience for students. We can't wait to see who in Bristol can really do them justice; we've got a feeling a few might even surprise him."
A Wingstop spokesperson said: "A great student night should always have wings, so we wanted to bring the food, energy and flavour Wingstop is known for while letting the music and the crowd take centre stage. Bringing D Double E to Lakota felt like the perfect way to do that."
A final number of tickets will be available at Lakota on the night, giving Deliveroo Student members* in the standby queue one last chance to master an ad-lib and make it through the doors. Further details on where the challenges will take place and how students can be found on
