Yorkshire Rhymer Chiedu Oraka Lets Us Know Where He Came From On "Ave Life"

Yorkshire's finest, Chiedu Oraka is back and on fine form as ever with his new drop, "Ave Life". An autobiographical tale of sorts, the new single is a proud celebration of where he came from and all the life experiences that shaped him.

Production comes from Deezkid and there's an eerie twang to it, but the central element is the powerful, unshakeable beat that drives it all forward. It's a well-suited bedrock, striding forward with the same confidence Oraka says he's built up for himself.

For the visuals, he's called on director Paul Preston and DOP Luke Hallett to take us back to his childhood years on the council estate. Navigating the challenges life can throw at kids, there's no bitterness here, just pure, hard-won pride.

Sharing his thoughts behind the track, Oraka writes: "What does 'Ave Life' mean? Council estate confidence. It's more than a title, it's an energy. We have to celebrate our journey, the victories and the hardships. We come from a place full of deprivation which means our aspirations have been limited due to a lack of confidence. There is no need to feel ashamed anymore. We need to be walking around with our heads held high because we are survivors, we have survived the surroundings we were born in and that makes us great."

"Ave Life" is lifted from Oraka's upcoming, as-yet-untitled EP, which is due later this summer.
