Central Cee Is Charging His Way To The Top On Crucial New Tape '23'

February 25, 2022

When Central Cee arrived just a year ago with his debut mixtape Wild West, most would not have anticipated his rapid rise to commercial success, with a cult-like following plugged into the tales of his life. His second mixtape 23 sees him reload with a fresh batch of heaters, unveiling more layers of his psyche and experiences.

For the majority of the production, the West Londoner reunites with Young Chencs, with the rest of the beats coming from Flex, NKO, 3lackondabeat, Young Chencs, Nick French, Nastylgia, Flem, Chris Rich, Joe Stanley, LondnBlue, Roddy Beats, Chucks, Dan Diggas, Mura Masa, PinkPantheress, ATM, and Lovelife.

Much like Wild West, Cench keeps the features to a minimum and invites rapper Lil Bro on the penultimate track, offloading words of wisdom to the younger generation to pick a better path for themselves. The only other features come on "Eurovision" when he rounds up a host of rappers from Spain, Italy, and France, including A2 Anti, ASHE 22, Baby Gang, Beny Jr, Freeze Corleone, Morad, and Rondodasosa.

Perfecting the drill sound he's been flexing for the past few years, he diversifies those sounds with Egyptian-style flutes on "Straight Back To It", some R&B stylings and an acoustic guitar on "Cold Shoulder", and then there's "End Of The Beginning" where Dave bags an executive producer credit as Cench reflects on the life lessons he collected before success, capped off with an unsettling choir accompaniment.

A story that is unequivocally his own, get into 23 below.
