Celebrate 10 Years Of Bashy's Iconic "Black Boys" With This 1Xtra Doc

October 03, 2017

As we're all aware, this month is Black History Month in the UK and BBC 1Xtra are flying the flag with a load of documentaries, special shows and interviews.

The latest is a new radio documentary about Bashy's historic "Black Boys" single which is celebrating its 10th anniversary (feel old?). The whole thing is a fascinating listen, whether you were there at the time or not. They've also been sharing a few little-known facts across their socials.

Here's a rundown of some of the most surprising bits:

1. The track was recorded in just two hours and was released specifically for Black History Month.

2. The track was produced by hit-maker Naughty Boy who funded the track's video with his winnings from Deal Or No Deal.

3. The track launched Naughty Boy's career that would see him work with Emeli Sandé, Sam Smith, Wiz Khalifa and Beyoncé.

4. The track came with seven remixes including one that clocked in at 17 minutes and featured 21 artists.

5. Despite what you might have heard, the track was never actually banned from radio.
