Bree Runway Continues To Defy Expectations With "Little Nokia"

September 24, 2020

Just when you thought you knew what Bree Runway was about, she goes and pulls the rug from under you. So far, we've mostly had shades of R&B, pop and rap from the Hackney star and now she's surprised us yet again with "Little Nokia".

A meld of noisy, distorted guitars and snappy pop vocals, "Little Nokia" is both completely unexpected and yet entirely on brand for her. The visuals, directed by Ali Kurr, rise to the challenge the track sets out with bold, colourful shots with grit and grandeur in equal measure. As she issues marching orders to a guy who's a little too wrapped up in his burner phones, you can't help but think she already outgrew him years ago.

"I'm all about mixing and blending genres, melodies, topics from different realms," she explains. "To be speaking on hood affairs, with a pop melody on a rock-infused beat is the most Bree Runway thing ever. I remember storming into the studio being pretty much done with the dude I'm singing about and needed something aggressive to lay my words on, and it honestly came together like magic. He's too busy dealing with Kylie, Madonna and Justin (drug refs) and not enough time to attend to me and I hated it; I had to channel the energy in a huge explosive way and I could not imagine a better way to do it!"
