Black Pound Day Initiative Launched To Support Black-Owned Businesses And Products

June 25, 2020

This Saturday (June 27) is Black Pound Day — a day to push and support Black-owned businesses and Black entrepreneurs.

With everything going on in the world right now with the damage wrought by both the lockdown and anti-Black sentiment, it's now more important than ever to do what we can as consumers to make sure that Black businesses survive.

It's also worth considering that even without the uncertainty brought by COVID-19, Black businesses are four times less likely to be approved for a loan and are often subject to higher interest rates due to racial bias.

Founded by So Solid Crew's Swiss (in partnership with Sony imprint and cultural hub Since '93), Black Pound Day was designed to capitalise on the positive energy being driven by the Black Lives Matter movement and to counter some of the economic obstacles that face Black businesses and Black products.

You can find a directory of Black-owned businesses on the Black Pound Day website.
