Berna Pays Homage To His Ends In "Straight Outta Newham"

March 17, 2023

Berna returns with "Straight Outta Newham", simultaneously a love letter to the area that raised him and a warts-and-all portrayal of what that was really like.

The Luke Hallan-produced track borrows from many LA greats—there's the track's title and its nod to NWA, as well as the Roy Ayers "Sunshine" sample used—but the picture that Berna paints is uniquely of his ends, and the Don Prod video hones in on his East London upbringing even further. From having a full English in a café, to shots of the 262 bus route that he shouts out, there's no mistaking the pride that Berna has in his stomping ground.

The new track is taken from his forthcoming mixtape, EAST2ESSEX, which is scheduled for release later this year.
