FLO, Nia Archives, Cat Burns & More Named On BBC Sound Of 2023 Longlist

December 07, 2022

This year's poll of nominees for BBC Sound of 2023 has been revealed.

It's another strong list of acts that have had an incredible few months and have plenty to look forward to in the coming year. A panel of journalists, radio broadcasters, and industry figures will make the final vote before the winner is announced on December 8.

Following her meteoric rise, last year's victor was PinkPantheress while acts like Jorja Smith, Stormzy and Adele were recognised for their works. Junglist wizard Nia Archives also made this year's list of nominees alongside R&B stars FLO, drum & bass duo piri & tommy, indie jewel Rachel Chinouriri, Cat Burns, Biig Piig, and others which you can take a look at below.

Chris Price, Head of Music for Radio 1, says: "This year's Sound Of longlist is one of the strongest and most diverse we've ever published. The most striking thing about it is the breadth of genres represented.

"Every single artist on the list has been incubated on Radio 1's playlist and specialist output; whoever wins, we can be sure that 2023 will be a vintage year for new pop, dance, R&B, soul, drum & bass, Afrobeats and indie."

The nominees are as follows (in alphabetical order):

Asake
Biig Piig
Cat Burns
