Bawo Spreads His Wings On Eclectic New EP 'Surf's Up'

September 25, 2026

Bawo has just dropped of his new EP, Surf's Up.

The West Londoner has been teasing the new EP for a few months now, kicking off with "And Still" in May, then "Clueless" the following month, and "Shelloff" with Jme and Scorcher in August.

The genesis of the EP came from a 2024 session with artist and producer Ken Samson. It was a productive session and one that changed Bawo's perspective when it comes to live instrumentation. "I used to be completely against [live instrumentation] in my music, for the most part," he says. "But now it's the opposite. I started listening to Nirvana more, just straight rock music, and feeling that energy."

The result is one of his most varied works to date with some adventurous choices and new sounds like the alt-rock/indie vibes of "Wrestlemania", the more dancefloor-ready "Clueless" and the dreamy Jam City collab "Surfboard Club".

Creatively speaking, Bawo is firing on all cylinders here and this EP gives us some of his most dynamic, energised rhyming to date. "It's almost synonymous with getting green lights every time," he says of the EP's title. "It means I'm ready for anything—the good and the bad."
