Ashley Walters Leads BBC Discussion Into Being Black 25 Years On From Stephen Lawrence Murder

May 10, 2018

The BBC filmed a short discussion led by Ashley Walters, along with young black contributors, to discuss what has changed in attitudes to crime and policing since the murder of Stephen Lawrence 25 years ago.

This conversation is perhaps of even more importance considering the prevalent issue of the amount of violence and murder among young people, particularly in London this year. The clip covers a number of different views ending in the group offering their opinions on how change can actively be made to combat crime and police whilst being black.

Joining Walters for the discussion were Temi Mwale (founder of the 4Front Project), Shaun Flores (former volunteer Police Cadet), Franciaa Cabulo (a youth centre volunteer), Vivienne Isebor (Life Skills Recovery Worker at the NHS), Lippy Lickshot (social media influencer) and Lightz (Creative Works media trainee).
