Arlo Parks Shares New Single "Green Eyes" In Anticipation Of Debut Album 'Collapsed In Sunbeams'

October 22, 2020

Following on from "Stranger In The Night", her contribution to Fraser T. Smith's Future Utopia project 12 Questions, Arlo Parks continues her prolific output with "Green Eyes". The new song comes with visuals from director Louis Bhose, whose gentle approach gives the video a storybook quality.

Alongside the single, Parks has also announced the release date of her debut album, Collapsed In Sunbeams, available on streaming platforms from January 29. "Green Eyes" captures Arlo's essence with a sound that mixes pop and folk with relatable lyrics that tap right into the human experience. Parks's soft vocals are complemented with backing contributions from stateside singer-songwriter Clairo, who subtly accentuates the tender moments within.

With incisive lyrics like Couldn't hold my hand in public / Felt their eyes judging our love, Parks address societal attitudes towards same sex love, and her resultant discomfort with public displays of affection. "This is a song about self-discovery, self-acceptance and adolescence," Parks writes. "It is supposed to uplift and comfort those going through hard times".

2020 has been monumental for Arlo Parks and her success is only just beginning; dip into her world below.
