Amazon's +44 Recruits ENNY, Kojey Radical, Lady Leshurr & More To Recreate Iconic Album Covers

December 01, 2021

All through November, Amazon music has spotlighted some of the most influential albums and their covers by Black artists on its +44 platform. For each week of the month artists making waves in today's UK music space recreated a series of album covers to celebrate the impact of those records on themselves and the wider global community.

Kicking things off was Lady Leshurr with a tribute to Missy Elliott's groundbreaking debut Supa Dupa Fly album, this time replacing the iconic Missy jersey with emblazoned instead with 'Leshurr'. Then came dynamic duo Young T & Bugsey with a reworking of Outkast's Stankonia. Fronting freshly permed hair and lightly blinged-out necks and fingers, the pair paid homage to the album that graced us with the southern fried classics "Ms. Jackson" and "So Fresh, So Clean".

In the following weeks, rap king Kojey Radical joined in to honour the lyrical genius that is Kendrick Lamar, emulating the album cover DAMN and says: "I'd say Kendrick Lamar was one of the first rappers that made me fall back in love with rap when I first heard 'Overly Dedicated'". R&B crooner Shakka later recreated Craig David's Born To Do It, celebrating his two-step-inducing blend of UKG and R&B. For the final edition, ENNY was joined by Shakka and Kojey to channel the Fugees to reimagine the shadowy album cover of The Score.
