Ireland's 7th Obi Blends Classic Funk And Jazz With Rap And Trap On "Confusion"

October 29, 2020

Irish rapper 7th Obi has dropped visuals for his latest track "Confusion".

Following the line of many rappers birthed by SoundCloud, the new offering fuses elements of jazz, hip-hop and trap to create a low-tone, Auto-Tuned vibe. Built around sleek saxophone chords, the scintillating, trap-infused beat from producer Ezreaux Damari also bares a sound close to '80s Ohio funk giants Zapp & Roger, leaving us with an intriguing mesh of sounds.

Hit play on the visuals, directed by Sam Fallover, because they're as trippy as the track itself, flitting between negative, neon and distorted frames for an effect that's befitting of the song's title.

"Confusion" is the first single from 7th Obi's upcoming album Love & Goodluck.
