Birmingham Rapper 12omo Marks 'Conscious' Album With Autobiographical "Lamb Neck Soup" Video

Now five projects deep into his career (including two mixtapes and three EPs), Birmingham's 12omo — pronounced: 'Romo' — has just dropped off visuals for his debut album's fourth single, "Lamb Neck Soup".

Written and produced entirely by the man himself, Conscious is a towering achievement for 12omo. Opening with "Words On My Mind" and closing with "Words Off My Chest", 12omo book-ends the autobiographical album with a cerebral, no-hook outpouring. That thoughtful, densely-packed lyricism becomes a running theme of the project as he looks back at all the twists and turns in his life.

Production-wise, 12omo dips into UK rap, trap, garage, dancehall, grime and even touches of R&B peppered in along the way as he frames his life story in the context of music, from recording with a PA system his mum bought him to the heart-rending tale of his grandmother's passing.

The jewel in this autobiographical crown comes in the "Lamb Neck Soup" visuals, tying together a lot of the album's themes while looking back at his history in grime and rap. Mostly woven together from home videos and old clips, we take the emotional journey from dinners at his grandmother's house through to his first forays into the music game as he gradually builds his empire.
