First Music That Inspired Him: “I think I was in Year 4 or Year 5 when I first heard 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ album. I didn’t even know half the things he was talking about but the feeling it gave me was crazy. When I heard that album, it made me want to make music.”

Growing up in a Christian Caribbean household, rising rapper W1ZZY tells TRENCH that “reggae and gospel” were the cornerstones of family life, but at his core, he has always been a road rap fanatic, and now he’s carrying the torch for a new generation. Describing himself as “half Jamaican, half trapper”, W1ZZY is a man of few words, but he poured every one of them into his latest project, Voice Of The 6—a collection of tracks that defines the young artist as the heir to the road rap legacy. He cites 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ as a watershed moment and one of the main reasons he first put pen to paper. But as time went on, it was Blade Brown who left the most lasting impact.

For a young W1ZZY, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ was transformative. It sounded great—exciting, larger than life—but much of its message felt distant from his own reality. It wasn’t until he discovered Blade Brown and his take on street culture that everything began to click. “Blade Brown, back in the day, had the biggest influence on me because of the music he was making,” says W1ZZY. “Growing up, I was heavily influenced by it. The music I make today is quite similar in terms of its context.” So to have Blade Brown on Voice Of The 6 feels like everything coming full circle. In fact, pretty much all the features have been selected very deliberately. Rimzee and Youngs Teflon come from the same school as Blade, and no doubt inspired W1ZZY while helping shape his voice as an artist. Then there’s the younger generation: Figs0 and WatchItAllGo—two very different rappers stylistically, but artists telling many of the same stories as their predecessors, just in the language of 2026.

And that vintage road rap DNA is built right into the brickwork of this project. Production comes from only a select few master craftsmen: Michelin Shin, M1OnTheBeat, Carns Hill and Louis Aura, whose combined list of credits make up a staggering portion of UK rap’s greatest hits. And together, they have built a future rap classic.
