Between SoundCloud, YouTube, Mixcloud and everything else, it can feel like we’re being overwhelmed by an impenetrable, almost infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

2025 has been another banner year for Zack Fox. His B2B set with Conducta earlier this year was one for the history books, but his appearance at Camp Flog Gnaw Festival—aka the Big Nasty Barbecue and Booty Shake—defied description. An absolute riot of on-stage action, his selections were the star of the show, naturally. House, techno, rap, the obligatory B’more slammers, and finishing up with some Gospel euphoria.

The big headline for Jyoty this year was her massive headline set at Alexandra Palace, a phenomenal feat that she’s been candidly documenting for the past few months on her socials. It gave us a fascinating (albeit sobering) look at the realities of pulling it off as an independent artist, but it’s far from the only thing she’s been up to this year. Mostly recently, she put out this recent mix in the run-up to the big day. If you weren’t at Ally Pally, this cocktail of soundsystem slammers from her eclectic record bag will probably make you feel that bit worse.

One of the UK’s best documentarians, Saul Mountford’s Soloman’s Archive project has grown to be an esential resource for rave history in the past few years. Everything from old bassline sets to foundational rave recordings, radio clashes, tape backs, ripped CDs, lost music videos and rarities have been painstakingly peserved on his site and his social media accounts are packed with clips once thought lost forever. A talented selector as well as archiver, Soloman recently took to YouTube for an impromptu trip through bassline history including gems from Piddy Py, Subzero, Murkz, TRC, DJ Q and many more.

By now, DJ Lag is synonymous with the rise and rise of the dark, weighty chug of gqom, but there’s much more to him than that. Real ones will no of his taste for colourful deep house and Amapiano selections, but this mix adds yet another dimension. Bright, soulful and energising from the very first second, there are actually a fair few of his own productions in here, like the Ape Drums collab “GQTECH”, “Native Sound” with Jay Music, and “Woza” with Sykes and Sir Trill, as well as some unexpected joints from Calvin Harris and Black Coffee.

Fresh off the back of a stellar homecoming appearance at Warehouse Project, Manchester’s Interplanetary Criminal was in the lab this month for his second set there. A 90-minute power-slam of garage, speedy g and bassline, the new session is jammed with old and new gems, many of them his own. Kicking off with an unreleased Slick Rick-sampling tune of his own, he packs in almost exclusively unreleased tunes plus gems from Main Phase, Silva Bumpa, a Sammy Virji collab, as well as his recent Kwengface and Flowdan team-up, “Dot Dot”.

Plastician was down in Brixton with Capo Lee, Killa P and PK this month as part of the UK + IRL CLUB Culture tour, in collaboration with Buntai. All three MCs were on top form here, but Stish’s selections can’t be overlooked. A well-balanced pick of grime and subtep chuggers, it’s always special when he draws for the vintage mid-2000s dubstep from Benga, Coki and co.

It’s been a big month for bassline. Taking the low-end stompers Stateside, Silva Bumpa was in New York recently where he turned in a solid hour of 4x4, bassline and tech house, the majority of which were his own unreleased productions, capped off with an unreleased but possibly familar gem from Interplanetary Criminal.

As a prelude to the pair’s set at the recent Obigated Records party at Unlocked Shoreditch, Oblig and Riz La Teef went toe to toe with a massive B2B session. Featuring a few rarities from their equally impressive record bags, Oblig also drew for a few sluggers from the most recent Obligated Records release from DJ Polo, including the Trim collab “Darkside”. There’s plenty more treats inside, including a timely Mssingno classic as he reemerges from the mists and a cracker from Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu’s collaborative BLUMITSU outfit.

He’s been on a fiery run this year with club heaters like ‘Technique’, ‘Lose Control’, ‘Keep It Rolling’ and ‘Move Your Body’, not to mention a five-date North America tour with Disclosure. Nestled in amongst that was his standout appearance at Into The Woods Festival. The tech house element continues to make its presence felt in his garage-driven sound, but that shouldn’t put off the purists.

Zaleel was on foundation.fm this week with a heart-racing antidote to the winter gloom. Relentless from the get-go, Zaleel delivers a thundershock hour of jungle, R&B, footwork, and other 160 slammers. There’s plenty of recognisable heat in here, much of reshaped and recontextualised with some surprising left-turns.
