Between SoundCloud, YouTube, Mixcloud and everything else, it can feel like we’re being overwhelmed by an impenetrable, almost infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

Kode9 and Tim Reaper reunited in San Francisco for a B2B at the top of this month. The Future Retro and Hyperdub bosses were in the West Coast city to take over the Thought Society and N/A sound system for the finale of Parameter 10’s 10th anniversary. A pretty even split of the two labels’ signature sounds, Reaper’s breakneck jungle (including a forthcoming Reaper/Fracture collab) was met with some equally weighty tracks from Hyperdub favourites Scratcha DVA and Rashad, along with Joy O, SOPHIE and more.

Renowned for taking the technical aspect of DJing to cloud-grazing levels. One-upping even himself, this month saw Neffa-T hook up eight decks and two mixers for an acrobatic display. Jumpy grime, snarling techno, lurching low-end and more all get a spin in this marathon set. More important than any of his nimble-fingered manoeuvres, however, is that for every 100 views (up to 100K), a donation will be made to Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Earlier this month, Tiffany Calver announced she’d be taking over Phonox for her four-month residency No Requests, taking place each Friday in September. Each night will focus on a different subset of her enormous record bag, with special guests joining her on each evening. To celebrate the news, Calver dropped by the Foundation FM studios to join Hit You On The Rebound DJ Rickinzi for a mammoth B2B set to give you a taste of what’s to come in September.

Earlier this year, Jayemkayem and Feezachin cemented their status as honorary Brits by moving to London full-time. It was a long overdue move; they’ve been making regular trips over here for years now, and this month they were on Mode Radio to give us a snapshot of their eclectic arsenal. A groove-heavy set with plenty of energy, they took us from grime to dubstep, peppering in some spacey club jams, a touch of R&B and a few other unexpected detours along the way.

A mix of grime, techno and some gnarly club edits and off-the-cuff wizardry from both. Charisma’s show is a criminally underrated house for grime and club crossovers. His B2Bs in particular have been up there with the best of them, and this one with Tailor Jae might just take the prize. Tailor’s grime/jungle/rave sets and productions like “The Wheel” never fail to stun. Her session with Spyro earlier this year went viral for her lightning touch on the decks and as this set with Charisma shows, it was anything but a one-off.

Stepping in as a guest of the [re]sources family, Suzi Analogue was in the Rinse France studios this month with a wide-ranging mix that gives a pretty comprehensive look at what she’s been up to over the past 12 months. The new session includes a few excerpts from last year’s ONEZ mixtape, a mammoth undertaking that covered acid techno, footwork, rap, R&B, various strains of club music and more. In between her own productions, there are also cuts from Traxman, Michael Millions, and a rising producer called Kidnxtdoor, who made the track in question during a beat-making course Suzi taught recently.

Rupture co-founder Mantra was in the Resident Advisor studios this month, taking it back to the first rave sounds that inspired her. Rupture London is synonymous with D&B and jungle, but back in the late ‘90s it was the crisp percussion and soulful grooves of garage that captured her imagination. Here she goes right back to that era, sticking exclusively to classics from ’96-’98 for a stunningly nostalgic power hour including gems from Masterstepz, Todd Edwards and more.

One of the stars of the garage renaissance that’s gripped dancefloors for the best part of a decade, MPH is as about as close to a surefire as anyone. Reliable, but never predictable, his sets always bang off, and this new mix is a prime example. Here he packs a load of new and unreleased MPH tracks (including his recent jam, “Raw”) a belting “Next Hype” blend, some Sammy Virji, AC Slater, Calvin Harris… basically wall-to-wall jawbreakers stuffed with low-end.

Blending white-hot French rap, heart-attack club music, Baile funk, techno, it all has a place in a high-intensity set that straddles both sides of the channel. France’s myriad, patchwork underground sounds are second to none and a lot that can be heard surging through this mix as well as international heavyweights like DJ Lag, DJ Deeon, DJ Spinn, DJ Manny, and homegrown heroes like D Double, Riko Dan, Len and, of course, Skepta’s Tim & Barry dub.
