Between SoundCloud, YouTube, Mixcloud and everything else, it can feel like we’re being overwhelmed by an impenetrable, almost infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

Ahead of her appearance at Defected in Tisno, Croatia, Kitty Amor put together a this warming mix of Afro-house pre-party jams. Subtle and meticulously built for a gradual incline, the Mahaba Music boss takes us through the sound’s more laid-back, but no less energising, moments. Kitty Amor has delivered some pounding sets lately—as anyone who caught her during her tour of Ibiza this summer can attest—but this gentle sunrise set shows just how veratile she is as a selector.

Daytimers mark their fourth birthday this year. They’ve been celebrating the occasion all month with special events like the huge night at Ormside Projects this past weekend and a special poetry-focused event as part of Rally Festival. Raji Rags took the party to the airwaves this month with his latest NTS show. Flanked by some of the growing number of Daytimers members, Raji took us through the BPMs to capture the multifaceted, difficult-to-pin-down Daytimers experience.

Away from his career as a comedian and his standout role in Abbott Elementary, Zack Fox is also a sorely underappreciated DJ (don’t call it a side quest). He’s been notching appearances on some of the best new online platforms, performing smoky funk, soul and R&B sets in intimate settings. Swapping that for wide open space of The Brooklyn Mirage in New York, the multi-dimensional mischief-maker packed the stage for an hour of high-intensity club ragers.

Rinse FM’s summer terrace special proved another runaway success this year. Since it was the station’s 30th anniversary this year, they packed the line-up with sets and appearances from Lil Silva, Oblig, Plastician, Riz La Teef, DJ Polo, Ewan McVicar, Arthi and tonnes more. Also on that list were Y U QT whose set just went online along with Saint Ludo and Lu.Re. According to a post on their Insta, the duo accidentally played almost nothing but Y U QT tracks and remixes, but that turned out to be for the best. Nothing but foot-stomping UKG/bassline bouncers.

The Travs Presents... empire continues to grow. There are big things in the work—which we’ll be letting you know about shortly—but for now, it’s worth highlighting this set Travs curated at Kindred. Billed as Big Zuu and friends, the multi-talented MC brought along Jme, Manga, Jammer, Frisco and The Den, and more for an absolute earthquake of a set. Even by their standards, this was a sweatbox set, cramming more people than ever into the London shop front. Look out for a few familiar faces dotted in the crowd, too.

Teklife co-founder DJ Spinn hit the Elevator this month with a frantic power selection. As ever, they packed the room out with dancers, including Bulb and Steelo of footwork crew The Era and Teklife family member DJ Lucky (among others). Drawing on Chicago classics and new-school freshness, Spinn’s set ties in rap, house, techno, funk and more to offer yet more proof of just how fertile and full of life the sound is. In fact, don’t be surprised if a footwork renaissance hits the mainstream in the near future.

Four Tet’s journey to Lollapalooza has been a fascinating one. Starting out as a member of post-rock band Fridge before setting out as a solo producer, his releases in the early 2000s were trippy, psychedelic beauties often dubbed “folktronica”. The leap from Everything Ecstatic to Skrillex and Fred Again sets at Madison Square Garden was tremendous, but by ending his Lollapalooza set with Autechre’s “Sim Gishel”, we got the perfect full circle Four Tet moment.

Returning or the latest in his monthly slot on Subtle, Riska was back in his grime/techno crossover bag this month. This time round, he expanded on the combo with a few bits of percussive club music and some spacious dubstep in Sukh Knight and Badness’ “Banana Clip”. Listen out for grimey techno thumpers and sluggers from Mia Koden, Harba, JLSXND7RS, and more.

OMTI Recs boss Anz was over in the States this month, playing a series of shows across North America. During the New York leg of her travels, she swung by the Brooklyn radio station for an hour of house, techno and electro rump-shakers, which she juices up with shimmering, soulful moments. Consisting solely of her own productions, it gives some idea of how versatile she is as both DJ and producer—and offers a welcome holdover until her next seasonal care package.

Back in July, a new jungle/D&B collective called Diversion Audio introduced itself to the world with a takeover at Planet Wax. Joining family members Jay-Mo, Bluck, Tianna Franxx, Randoma, Sali, and All That Remains was special guest Tim Reaper, who capped the night off with a thumping, grime and dub-licked jungle set. Hitting the ground running, the DA set already have their next rave lined up for September 20—a late-nighter at Basing House in Shoreditch with a headline set from Blade Runner.
