Between SoundCloud, YouTube, Mixcloud and everything else, it can feel like we’re being overwhelmed by an impenetrable, almost infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

MUNII S for Piano People / Reprezent

Continuing their series of curated DJ mixes, Reprezent invited the Piano People team to put together a selection. This one from MUNII S was the pick of the bunch, honing in on the scorching rumble of the Amapiano sound. It’s all in aid of Piano People’s massive 10-hour takeover festival at Drumsheds this Sunday where MUNII will be hitting the Lit Lagos stage alongside Odumodublvck, BOJ, Blaqbonez, DJ P Montana, the Dankiee Sounds family and more (they’ve also got Major League DJs, DBN Gogo and DJ Maphorisa on the main stage).

Benteki for Rinse FM

Having wrapped up his eight-year tenure at Reprezent recently (end of an era), this month saw Benteki kick off a brand new monthly residency over at Rinse. Helming a new slot on Sunday, it’s everything we’ve come to love from his sets; threading together various different strains of club music, from grime to electro to garage and funky. Launching this new phase in style, this inaugural edition includes gems from SPD, Hojo, Max Ulis, Darama, K-Lone, Burna and much, much more.

Nadī for Sixth Garden Records

Daytimers regular Nadī has been out in Japan for the last month and a bit, shelling down shows in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. For the latter—which has just hit her SoundCloud—she was invited down to the Sixth Garden record shop for an in-store evening set. True to her usual form, she mixed up a storm of 2-step, garage, bassline (including Rico Tubbs’ downright rotten “Original Nuttah” remix), plus a good dose of house thumpers and a few perc tracks for good measure.

Jakebob’s November Power Hour Mix

By his own admission, Jakebob’s been a little quiet on the production side for the last six months, but that looks set to change with the batch of fresh tunes he’s lining up. He’s posted clips of two of them already—an Eastern-influenced track called “Part Of Me” and a soulful joint called “1978”—but beyond that, details are scarce. There might be some clues in his latest ‘Power Hour’ mix, though...

Kasra for Resident Advisor

Following neatly on from Goldie’s RA takeover, Critical Music boss Kasra stepped up for their latest mix, taking us from the old-school classics to the new-school vanguard. Recorded on three decks, it’s a well-rounded representation of Kasra the producer, the DJ and the label owner, letting the tracks breathe rather than focusing on interfering too much. Listen out for cuts from Halogenix, Ivy Lab, Spectrasoul and Alix Perez, plus a few of his own tunes, including his Riko Dan collab “Talk Up”.
