Between SoundCloud, YouTube, Mixcloud and everything else, it can feel like we’re being overwhelmed by an impenetrable, almost infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

Dive into TRENCH Radio’s best mixes of the week below.

EMA for Ilian Tape

Woozy founder and co-founder of the Skin&Blister collective—with her friends Gina, Eva, Meg & Ana—EMA delivered a fresh slab of bass weight this week. The Woozy label’s only been going since 2020, but already it’s put out three releases and had its own Keep Hush takeover. Meanwhile, the Skin&Blister project’s hurtling ahead at an even madder pace including a Selectors Series on Spotify and a mini mix series for upcoming DJs called MINX. Pausing for just a moment, EMA checked in with Zenker brothers to drop off a 90-minute set that leads with a lot of the weighty dubstep chuggers she’s known for, gradually upping the pace with more and more breakbeats for a nimble and energetic finish.

YeahItsRenee for Kiosk Radio

If you stopped by our pop-up event at the adidas flagship store last month, you might have been lucky enough to catch YeahItsRenee’s set. The Watford-hailing DJ was in Belgium recently, booked to play The Merode in Brussels, and while there she touched down at local radio spot The Kiosk for a quick session. Racing full pelt through the BPMs, she takes it from Amapiano to Afro-House, a little jungle, some deep house, and plenty of warmth and energy.

Lady Shaka live @ Glastonbury

If you went to Glastonbury this year, you’ll know the best stuff was kept in the tents playing club and rave music. Over at Shangri-La, Lady Shaka made her Glastonbury debut after four consecutive near-misses. Pulse-racers from start to finish in this transcontinental melee as weighty perc tracks run up against selections from across SWANA, South Asia, and far beyond. Hopefully not her last appearance at Worthy Farm (although you can catch her tonight in London at Colour Factory for the Lady Shaka & Friends night if you missed out).

Clasico w/ Eleanor & CalvoMusic for Rinse FM

Earlier this year, Sydney-born, South London-based Eleanor launched her own label, Clasico, in partnership with Local Action. Focusing on “cutting-edge global music”, the label was inspired by a series of trips she took to North America last year. Since founding the new outpost she’s been championing it on her Rinse show, most recently drafting in Baltimore producer CalvoMusic for a guest mix. His New Club Waves creations take inspiration from his home city’s unbeatable history of club music and he packs a generous helping of those productions into his share of the show, alongside gems from Arma, Yves Tomas, Kush Jones, and more.

Vigilante for Subtle Radio

From grime to speed garage to jungle, London selector (and budding producer) Vigilante’s radio shows, mixes and so on are strictly high-intensity. Although that doesn’t necessarily mean high-tempo—in her ongoing personal mix series she’s broached just about every genre, including reggaeton, Amapiano, Afro-House, Baile, etc.—her latest show for Subtle Radio absolutely does mean that. Easing us in with some garage and 2-step it’s a quick incline to the harder stuff. Listen out for selections from Sully, Florentino, Burna, Anz, Ahadadream, and more.
