SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don't have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week's new DJ mixes. To help you out, we've done the busy work for you. We'll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest in house, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B and no doubt a bunch of extremely trendy stuff that doesn't have a name yet.

First up, On1 dipped into the darker side of UK garage with an hour of fresh dubplates; Glaswegian producers RUDA and Rapture 4D marked the release of their new EP with a session of grimey dubstep thunder; fellow Glaswegians VAJ.Power got extra dark with their blend of grime, dubstep, dancehall and bass music, all with an emphasis on gloomy atmospherics; Dutch drum & bass producer Lenzman went deep with his unique combination of rugged D&B and heavy rap; Czech DJ Tigerhead delivered a no-nonsense mix of acid, electro and techno; and, finally, rave educator DJ Persuasion gave us a primer on the history of hardstep.
