TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week

SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

First up, T.Williams set the tone perfectly with a invigorating, soul-stirring batch of broken beat, garage, and deep house jams; Hanaby and Malengo of Local Juice Soundsystem rebuked the cold with 40 minutes of UK funky sizzle; Wisdom Teeth co-founder K-Lone steered the ship on their latest show, spinning dark and dramatic gems from Silkie, Joe, SP:MC and more; South Londoner DJ Squarewave took us on a broad, sweeping journey through dubstep, funky, grime, garage, jungle, with an emphasis on the evocative and dramatic; Sorry Records ally Taal celebrated the grand tradition of NYC roof parties with a hot and heavy mix of garage and bassy house music; Brumtown selector Delta dragged us into the depths with a booming half-hour of grimey dubstep chuggers; J:Kenzo stirred up 75 minutes of nimble-footed movers from the worlds of garage, broken beat and dubstep; Ghost Phone's Sean Kelly miraculously used Three 6 Mafia to bridge the gap between R&B and jungle at his Headroom Festival set; ATL producer Nikki Nair delivered an explosive, dazzling two-hour mix of breakbeat, hardcore, 2-step, electro, D&B, trance and so much more; and finally, Jon1st put together a ruthlessly efficient 30-minute session of footwork and jungle, including slammers from Sully, Ivy Lab, Alix Perez, and one or two of his own.

This is TRENCH Radio’s best mixes of the week.
