TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week

SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

First up, Major League DJz reminded us why the SA twins call Amapiano “the heartbeat of Africa” with a definitive introduction to the sound; Philadelphia selector Art Cuebik kicked off a new mix series with just under an hour of 130-ish beats and bass from Filter Dread, Mr. Mitch, Denham Audio, and more; DJ Lag made his presence felt at Dekmantel with a seismic blast of entrancing bass-heavy rump-shakers; Tash LC gave us a dose of FOMO with her mix from Rinse’s recent Summer Terrace Party, filling it with heart-racers; Swagger Like Us co-founder davOmakesbeats took us through some of the tracks that define the Swagger experience; Skillis gave us a look at what’s coming up on his Headset label and mixed it with some other Scottish rave legends including a typically unhinged Neil Landstrumm gem; Calm Stiege his ‘Funky Adjacent’ series of shows with two solid hours of bouncy sunshine bangers from Roska, Hagan, Lil Silva, Apple and more; Coco Bryce gave us a look at what he’s been up to under his various aliases with a mixture of new, unreleased and work-in-progress joints from across the BPM spectrum; Jwarn took us deep into the rave with an expansive, sweat-drenched hour of everything from acid to Amapiano; and finally, Strict Face put together a high-intensity, perc-heavy mix of his own productions, most of which are unreleased (but hopefully not for long).

This is TRENCH Radio’s best mixes of the week.
