TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week

SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

First up, Children Of Zeus primed us for their two Glastonbury appearances with an hour of smoky rap, nourishing jazz, and revitalising soul music; Tysha Cee brought in Upgrade Records founder and fellow Parisian KLEMEE to help turn the temperature up with a combo of R&B, Afrobeats, dancehall, house music and more; Timma T played host to a special 1Forty takeover featuring funky, garage, grime and plenty of bootlegs whipped up by Arma, Gemi, and label head Lockt; Addison Groove shared his set from this year’s Love Saves The Day festival where he and Tom Koast took the Bristol crowd from house to bassline to jungle and beyond; VHOOR ran through the latest heart-racing Brazilian bangers (weighted heavily towards the heaviest, most percussive variants); Chimpo gave us a small peek at his staggering dubplate collection, including one-offs from Sizzla, Luciano, Beenie Man, Big Zeeks and plenty more; Jumpin Jack Frost reminded us why he’s in the upper echelon with an energising and ultra bouncy mix of D&B and breakbeat; Draconian audio co-founder Sempra explored jungle’s crossover potential with rap and R&B, giving us 30 minutes of unbridled, uplifting bouncers; Leila took us from deep and emotive club groovers, with a smattering of breaks, right into the depths of full-blown helter-skelter hardcore and jungle; and finally, S8 dipped into jungle’s jumpier side, for a power hour of Roni Size, Lemon D, and Remarc, as well as newer joints from Special Request, Coco Bryce, and Tim Reaper.

This is TRENCH Radio’s best mixes of the week.
