TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week

SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

First up, DJ Voices took us on an escapist road trip of driving, mesmeric club tracks with her ‘Avoiding Bad Thoughts’ mixtape; Cooly G dug deep into the kind of Amapiano, Kwaito, and gqom that inspired last year’s two-track vocal EP ‘Save Me’ for her latest mix; Tribal Brothers also took the Amapiano route, stirring in bits of funky and tribal house to showcase the jumpier side of the scene; South London-based Blacksmith pieced together two hours of deep and bassy house music, dubstep, garage, and breakbeats; Charisma had Manga and NamesBliss in the studio for a fast-talking, scuffed-knuckles barring session; Leicester-based Mikey G gave us an endorphin overdose of sweet and bouncy speed garage and bassline; Plastician moved from breaks, through garage, 2-step, and wave, before ending on something a little dubbier; Jaymie Silk gave us another dose of all the jumpy club music he’s been feeling at the moment Including roughly half an hour of unreleased productions of his own; Diligent Fingers marked the release of the Phadix remix of his recent “Killing My Dreams” with a 40 minutes of bassy D&B; and finally, Tim Reaper and Dwarde (Kindred) stopped in at the Kindred store for a B2B set of heavy-duty hardcore and jungle.

This is TRENCH Radio’s best mixes of the week.
