TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week

SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don’t have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week’s new DJ mixes. To help you out, we’ve done the busy work for you. We’ll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest house music, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B, Amapiano, and no doubt a bunch of stuff that doesn’t have a name yet.

First up, Joe Cotch took the warm yet disparate grooves of Amapiano, reggaeton and dancehall for a hybrid experience we need to hear more of; South East Londoner Chamber45 put together a rock solid hour of grime classics and hidden gems; BadSeed skipped between garage and 2-step beauties from across the years, including several refreshed takes on some old favourites; London-born, Manchester-based Sophia zeroed in on garage’s smoother, more soulful side, including beauties from Y U QT, K Lone, Mosca and the like; Notion hit us with two hours of tightly-wound garage house, bass house and deep house stompers; Jucey Tunes boss Ell Murphy dug into her house, funky and club music records (including one or two of her own joints) for a set of tightly-wound dancefloor energy; Parisian club maestro Sylvere spotlighted the unsung heroes of the French capital’s modern underground club scene; continent-hopping duo Bounce Jamz, aka JIALING and Soda Dream, went B2B for a session of percussive rave, breakbeat, Jersey Club, house music, and more; Ill Evans, founder of the Kindred shop/radio station/empire, stepped in for his old friends at Don’t Be Afraid for some snarling, cruddy jungle weightiness; and finally, Rhi Spect offloaded the first, more intensive half of her most recent show that included a fresh batch of new and unreleased jungle and hardcore from her Devons Road Recordings label.

This is TRENCH Radio’s best mixes of the week.
