TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week

SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don't have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week's new DJ mixes. To help you out, we've done the busy work for you. We'll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest in house, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B and no doubt a bunch of extremely trendy stuff that doesn't have a name yet.

First up, Vanessa Maria rounded off a year filled with career highs with a rapid-fire hour of everything from '90s clubland classics to grime and drill; Sicaria Sound broke their three-month hiatus with a healing blend of intergalactic dubstep jams; Paris-based producer Quasar celebrate the release of his Walk EP on Deep Medi Musik with 60 minutes of cavernous low end rumbles; London-based designer and DJ, Joel A-W of Opp Block Radio who served up a winter warmer that found connections between UK drill, U.S rap, R&B and even techno; Fork + Knife mixed up a storm grime and dubstep, featuring a stack of his own productions alongside thumpers from FFSYTHO?!, Coco, Champion, and MoreNight; Manchester-based selector Emma Rose plated up 30 mins of jumpy vocal grime; Spooky delivered a two-hour marathon of grime, dubstep, garage, drill and one or two festive surprises along the way; Hyperdub favourite Loraine James gave us a look at some of the gems she's picked up on Bandcamp recently; South London-based Bklava pulled together an hour of house and garage and laced it with some live vocals; and, finally, Bristol's Sherry S took us from dubstep and grime to funky and house music, with a few more bits besides.

This is TRENCH Radio's best mixes of the week.
