TRENCH Radio: 10 Of The Best Mixes This Week
SoundCloud (while it still lives) can be an impenetrable, infinite stream of music, often of varying quality. You need a soundtrack to start your weekend right, but you don't have the requisite lifetime to trawl through the week's new DJ mixes. To help you out, we've done the busy work for you. We'll be running this series every single Friday of every single week to bring you the very finest in house, grime, techno, bashment, R&B, trap, D&B and no doubt a bunch of extremely trendy stuff that doesn't have a name yet.
JazziDisciples member Josiah De Disciple showcased his soulful, melodic take on the burgeoning amapiano sound emanating out of South Africa; UK-born, Philadelphia-based Bearcat spun together everything from President T to Whitney Houston to Aphex Twin in her new mix; M.O took us from footwork to jungle via jazz, funk and soul with his frenzied selections; London producer and selector Just Geo whipped up half an hour of bubbling garage originals and edits; SIBMOB's Sparky delivered a frenzy of grime classics old and new; Rinse's DJ Oblig and Reprezent regular Benteki went back-to-back with two solid hours of grime heaviness; INTERVENTION founder Ifeoluwa spun together a "love letter to The Sesh" featuring just about every rap and club variation imaginable; Philadelphia-based DJ and producer Estoc gave us a volatile, drum-heavy dancefloor workout; 6 Figure Gang's Yazzus showed off her latest Bandcamp Day grabs, from garage and ghettotech to jungle and juke; and, finally, Shy One went full junglist with an exhilarating, relentless new session.
