EXCLUSIVE:
South London Duo CXLI Channel Their Colombian Roots Into The UK Funky Blueprint On “Caleño”

South London-based duo CXLI (pronounced: Cali) have been gearing up for the release of their upcoming Mestizo EP. Following the unveiling of “Químbaya” last week, they’re now ready with the second track from the EP, “Caleño”. Judging by these first two tastes, the upcoming EP will provide a telling example of what the fraternal pair are about. The name itself, Mestizo, is a word used in Latin America to describe the blending of European influences and South American heritage, a theme that makes itself throughout each of the Latin-influenced bangers. Sonically, there’s a heavy dose of UK funky across the EP, but to that the two brothers have added a range of sounds from their Colombian heritage. The result is a swirling cocktail of reggaeton, UK funky, Afro-house and more.

Get your blood pumping with “Caleño” at the bottom and keep your eyes peeled for the EP drop on February 21 via Club Djembe. The label will then be throwing a launch party at The Jago in Dalston, London, the following night, featuring CXLI, Tribal Brothers (LRGroove & Razzler Man), Vanessa Maria, DJ Polo and DJ Stolen.
