In the past couple of years, especially during the pandemic, Equiknoxx singer and Swing Ting collaborator Shanique Marie has been working tirelessly. Spurred on to bring some sort of positive out of everything we’ve been through, she’s been hard at work on her own solo material.

Her debut album, Gigi’s House, arrives tomorrow, June 16, but before that she’s dropping off one last pre-release extract, “P3”. Production here comes from Gavin ‘Gavsborg’ Blair — although the restrained calm of the instrumental is a slight step away from Marie’s heavier dancehall sound as part of Equiknoxx. Capped off with some chilling vocals from Bonjay’s Alanna Stuart, it makes for a slightly haunting listen, but one centred around a stunning vocal display.
