EXCLUSIVE: Scuti Returns To Collect Her Money On JD. Reid-Produced “L’Argent”

South London rapper Scuti’s been making some major waves lately. Last year was a particularly big one as she released her debut EP, This Is Skoo, out into the world. It was a well-received project that gave her loyal fanbase something to really sink their teeth into. That fanbase, it has to be said, was built up pretty quickly, especially since she only released her debut single the year before. Then, of course, the pandemic hit and the live circuit was no more, cutting off a vital lifeline with her supporters.

Fortunately, there’s now an end in sight and in the months following This Is Skoo, she’s re-grouped and worked on some new music that she’s now ready to share with us. “L’Argent”, produced by the mighty JD. Reid, is the first taste of what she’s been up to and it picks up right where she left off. Another slice of cerebral, woozy drill, her words are as barbed as ever, but she layers it with tumbling rhyme schemes and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it wordplay. Clearly, her pengame hasn’t blunted one bit during lockdown.

The visuals come from director Dylan Hayes and they tap right into her aesthetic; gritty and tough, but always thoughtful. And, just like her actual lyrics, you might have to come back to it a couple of times to get the complete picture.

Tune in at the top.
