EXCLUSIVE:
Dundee Rapper MC Salum Shoots From The Hip On Boisterous Yet Melodic “Felina”

Everyone knows that being a top-tier rapper is just as much about beat selection as it is rhymes, and on his new single “Felina”, Dundee-raised MC Salum — aka Mike Vincent Colville — has nailed both.

Taking on a paradoxically airy production from his old friend Liam James, Salum spits a furious statement of intent, warning off anyone who might doubt his credentials. Packed with the sort of frantic energy that’s made UK hip-hop and rap so globally respected of late, “Felina” packs an almighty punch that’s sure to leave your head spinning.

Adding another level of juxtaposition, guest vocalist Katie Lynch chimes in with a startlingly ethereal vocal to balance it all out. The surging adrenaline doesn’t just come from the tempo of his bars though, the subject matter alone is a high octane affair, as Colville explains below.

“A gallus cowboy longs for his old flame,” he tell us, “and finds out she is stuck working as a prostitute for a crime syndicate. In order to free her, he trades his soul to a shaman for eternal power. ‘Felina’ is about the aftermath.”
