Followers of Lockt’s 1Forty label will by now be aware of their regular compilation EPs highlighting a different facet of the UK underground, from grime and bassline to garage and funky. Recently, they called on three producers from the 1Forty family to each remix a track from the archives into something wholly different.

One of the tracks getting reworked is Fork + Knife’s collaboration with Killa P, “They Don’t Know”, a rugged 140 affair taken from a grime comp the label dropped last year. Stepping in for the remix is 9TRANE (who also appeared on the original EP) who completely reframes the track, swapping out the serrated grime riddim for a cavernous, almost industrial take on dubstep to sit beneath P’s rugged, commanding vocals.
