Just in time for Valentine’s Day, London-born, New York-based singer-songwriter and producer Halima is sharing her latest offering, “Break”. The song is her first of the year, but follows a string of well-crafted singles often built around a framework of funk-tinged, neo-soul grooves. With a piano-driven instrumental she crafted herself, Halima charms with a delicate vocal delivery, occasionally boosted with soothing harmonies above the twinkling piano keys. Equally likeable are the self-directed visuals that take a home video approach, collecting together scenes of her and her friends enjoying the little things in simpler, seemingly pre-COVID times. Now based stateside and armed with her own label, One Percent Genius, all Halima needs now is for the rest of the world to catch up.
