Chip Confirms His Legendary Status At Sold-Out KOKO Show

With a bag of headline shows under his belt, there was never any doubt of Chip’s commanding stage presence on the night of his latest big performance (September 28). League Of My Own 2’s independent release hit the Top 20 album chart earlier this summer, and so the fans were ready for a wild, wild show. Coats and jumpers came off as soon as the opening seconds of “Gets Like That”, the album’s standout, faded in and Plaistow’s flow master, Ghetts, took the hype levels up ten notches. 67 members LD, Dimzy and Liquez passed through—mask and all—and as if we weren’t overwhelmed enough, Giggs casually showed up and showcased how he commands a UK crowd. There’s no questions or disputes: when you’re in the presence of greatness, aka UK rap lord Giggs, you can’t help but to get a little excited.

As the temperature peaked, DJ Illness spun a selection of grime’s deluxe instrumentals and Chip was ready for war, dropping his now-legendary bars aimed at Bugzy Malone, Yungen (and the rest!). Countless artists came through to show support, flocking to the stage, and as the mic was passed to D Double E, it was evident that we were about to witness pure reload-mania. Up next: Jme, who dropped his classic bars from “Serious”; Ghetts received an instant wheel for his pussyole, no more lies line; and Stormzy skipped forward, buzzing from the energy. It was, in fact, Preditah’s “Circles” beat that encouraged Big Mike to take to the mic with “Big For Your Boots”, all before D Double followed-up the momentum with his much-loved echo ad-lib. Queue a Lethal B fly-kick, and the night was a beautiful showcase of Chip’s composure, hits, and absolute hype.

TRENCH was there to capture the night in pictures—peep them up top, and down below.
