Zimbabwe-Born Singer, Songwriter And Poet Rue Combines Her Many Talents In 'The Winter Collection' Video

Back in 2016, Zimbabwe-born, UK-raised singer-songwriter-poet Rue teamed up with Penhouse Music Group's Kevin Gani to pull together a series of recent tracks under the name The Summer Collection.

Now, in preparation for her upcoming debut EP, Rue is following that compilation up with The Winter Collection. This time around she's supplementing the project with a short film that weaves together the three tracks — "Lost", "Last Summer" (which features a touching and affecting appearance from London rapper Malick IV), and "Seasons" — into a fluid, cohesive narrative that brings her knack for creative storytelling to a whole new level.

The short film, directed by Somayeh Jafari, balances a rich and visually appealing aesthetic with a DIY edge. In it she tells the tale of a relationship between two women from its sugar-rush beginnings to a bittersweet ending, while bringing in themes of loneliness, self-love and empowerment.
