Young Rapper DeeRiginal Launches GoFundMe Campaign To Pay Mother's Funeral Costs With Heart-Wrenching "Beautiful Soldier"

D'Angelo Ferlance-Oduye, aka DeeRiginal, finds himself in an unthinkable position: at just 21 years old, the young rapper is having to prepare for his mother's funeral.

D'Angelo's mother, Beauti "Monica/Monique" Lerlance, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in her liver and gall bladder. After a year of misdiagnoses and then chemotherapy, she sadly passed away this morning (April 6).

As anyone who has had to organise and pay for a funeral for a loved one will know, funerals come with a huge financial cost (on top of the emotional cost, of course). Though he says friends and family have helped where they can, D'Angelo is looking at a bill of £10,000.

In order to meet those costs, he set up a GoFundMe page and with it a heartfelt song he wrote for his mother. In it, he lists all the ways she's helped and inspired him as a young man, while promising to live up to the standards she set for him.

"Imagine being misdiagnosed and dismissed for a year to then find out you have Stage 4 liver & gallbladder cancer which is inoperable," he explains on the GoFundMe page. "Then to be put through months of chemotherapy for it not to work and to then be told you have months to live.

"She's been through so much up to this point and now her dying wish is to be buried, that's all. To leave this world as she came, as flesh not dust."
