Wiley Continues To Expand His Legacy With Biopic Announcement

May 14, 2018

Less than a month since the release of his Godfather II album, and the legendary pioneer Wiley has more tricks up his sleeve. Thanks to Pulse Films and BMG, a biopic of his life is in the works with Adam Smith—whose feature debut was Trespass Against Us, starring Michael Fassbender—directing, and critically acclaimed playwright, poet, and author Sabrina Mahfouz handling the screenplay.

The film will tell the tumultuous life story of Wiley, covering his early days as a struggling producer and performer on pirate radio up to an artist whose name is known around the globe. It will also trace the growth of grime from its underground UK roots to a genre with worldwide fans.

Speaking on the announcement of the film, Wiley said: "This is my life, my highs and lows, but it's not really all about me. When I make music, help the scene or even do something like this, it's like I'm not alone any more. It's for people who grew up like me. I'm doing it to help people who are lost like me."
