Taliwhoah Celebrates Love In All Its Myriad Forms In "Sweetest Escape"

February 08, 2018

Being compared to someone on the level of the late Aaliyah must heap an enormous amount of pressure on you as an artist, especially when you're as early into your career as Taliwhoah.

That doesn't seem to have fazed her, though. A student of her mum and auntie (respectively, Toyin Adekale and Maizie Williams of Boney M) and their old VHS tapes from the '70s, musical icons don't intimidate her. Instead, they've been woven into her music, creating an artist both educated in the past and intent on pushing her sound into the future.

For her latest video, "Sweetest Escape", Taliwhoah takes what will no doubt go down as her signature tune and gives it some suitably laid-back visuals that explore her more vulnerable side as she opens up to a new love.

"This visual is definitely some insight to my more vulnerable side," she explained. "I wanted 'Sweetest Escape' to really show what I look like getting lost in the moment from another person's perspective. Love is so different in everyone's eyes, and that's what makes it so beautiful."
