Emerging R&B Star Reader Is At Her Spellbinding Best On "WSL"

May 01, 2018

Following her Change The Weather EP in March, rising R&B songstress Reader is back with the video for new single "WSL". The absorbing, reflective sound of the song is emblematic of the EP as a whole, with her spellbinding, often trance-like vocals having been compared to talents like James Blake, Mahalia and Portishead.

However, the London-via-Somerset artist is steadily carving out her own musical identity, having co-produced on the EP with hip hop/electronic pioneer The Last Skeptik, as well as being able to include being a classically trained multi-instrumentalist to her CV. Themes on the project include transition and isolation, things she experienced while writing it, and with a slot as one of the closing acts at the iconic Battersea Arts Centre's Homegrown Festival later this year, Reader is making sure she's here to stay.
